Modern Power Systems Magazine platforms Eavor as a growing “hot topic.”

Eavor’s first commercial power plant took the spotlight in a Modern Power Systems magazine feature article, detailing how Eavor is propelling geothermal energy in “attracting growing interest worldwide.”

Eavor’s inaugural commercial power plant in Geretsried is slated to commence partial operations by October 2024 and reach full functionality with four Eavor-Loops™ by August 2026. This is aimed to generate 64MWt for district heating and 8.2 MWe of power, and according to the magazine, it is also putting Eavor at the forefront of a “geothermal resurgence.”

“Geretsried, with Chubu’s involvement, changes everything,” said Eavor CEO John Redfern.

Chubu’s investment into Eavor aims to acquire experience and additional knowledge about geothermal business, potentially to deploy Eavor-Loop™ technology in Japan.

The article also highlights a slew of geothermal advancements taking place in other parts of the world, including the UK, Indonesia, Kenya, the United States, and the EU.

Europe, in particular, is witnessing a remarkable upscale of geothermal energy, with more than 2.19 million geothermal heat pumps currently in operation. In 2022 alone, the continent saw 395 operational systems added to its landscape, with approximately 300 more in various stages of development.

Moreover, the European Geothermal Council (EGC) reported a substantial surge in the sales of geothermal heat pump systems. The council anticipates the drilling of over 30 wells in the next 3-5 years, primarily for heating projects, along with over 100 wells in total.

In the face of Europe’s energy insecurity, Eavor’s innovative endeavors hold potential in being a crucial driver towards a more sustainable, environmentally conscious future. As countries aim for net-zero, these new geothermal developments can offer substantial contributions to a cleaner, more resilient energy landscape.
