A summary of the energy landscape in 2024 has noted advancements across various sectors, with Advanced Geothermal Systems (AGS) being listed as a key energy resource that can scale globally.
According to Danilo Onorino, Global Energy Portfolio Manager of Dogma Capital SA, geothermal potential lies within its ability to provide continuous, reliable baseload power, filling a gap left by intermittent sources like wind and solar. He noted that innovations developed by Eavor, such as its closed-loop system and Rock-Pipe™ technology, are gaining traction in regions like Europe. Alongside Eavor, companies like Ormat Technologies and Quaise Energy are recognized as leaders driving this geothermal revolution forward.
There was also emphasis put on major developments in other renewable sources, such as wind, solar, nuclear, and energy storage and batteries. These developments reflect the growing demand for stable and sustainable energy worldwide.
While technological progress continues, Onorino warned that uneven global investment remains a challenge. Europe faces political and economic hurdles that risk stalling its decarbonization efforts. He stressed that global cooperation and balanced investment are essential to ensure geothermal and other clean technologies reach their full potential.
Onorino previously authored an article discussing geothermal potential, noting Eavor’s contributions as pivotal to driving innovation in this sector.
The global shift toward clean energy is driven by a shared goal: to develop reliable energy systems that enhance energy autonomy and reduce reliance on external sources, supporting regions in their pursuit of decarbonization and energy security.
