Eavor Signs a Heat Supply Contract to Further Energy Autonomy in Geretsried

In a recent joint press release, Eavor Erdwärme Geretsried GmbH and Isar Loisach Naturwärme GmbH (ILN), a subsidiary of the municipal utilities of Geretsried, signed a heat supply contract at Geretsried town hall to mark a crucial step in delivering clean energy to the region’s district heating network.

The contract outlines the delivery of up to 81,200 MWh/a of heat to Isar Loisach Naturwärme GmbH. Jan Dühring, board member of the municipal utilities and managing director of Isar Loisach Naturwärme GmbH, expressed enthusiasm for the project’s infrastructure expansion, recognizing it as a challenge that the community, municipal utilities, and city are ready to tackle with determination and vigour.

The mayor of Geretsried, Michael Müller, emphasized the significance of this contract: “The use of geothermal energy is an essential building block for our region and Bavaria for the success of the energy transition; regionally it can reliably supply us with climate-friendly heat. Initially, not every Geretsried household will be able to connect to the district heating network. The backbone is formed by large properties such as schools, companies, and large residential areas.”

The development of the ILN district heating network will occur in six expansion stages, scheduled to commence in late 2025 or early 2026, and will extend from the commercial area in Gelting to Geretsried-Stein, contingent on drilling progress.

“This contract represents another milestone in a very important project for Geretsried and its citizens,” stated Daniel Mölk, managing director of Eavor GmbH.

“With this project, we are writing a new chapter in the energy transition. Here we show how Eavor-Loop™ technology can become a real game-changer for the heating sector. Geretsried will thus become a role model for municipalities on the path to climate neutrality.”

This latest contract is a significant addition to Eavor’s portfolio, following previous agreements with enercity in Hanover last September and preliminary steps for a project in Neu-Ulm last month, further solidifying Eavor’s commitment to providing clean energy solutions across Germany.
